Are You Ready to Write?
Are you ready to write a novel? I’ve been wanting to write a fantasy novel since 2009. Over 8 years ago, I had my first vision of a story that I wanted to write in a three book series. Over I two month period I continually wrote the background information on the main characters and scenes. Everything was written out in a notebook to help me create a clear vision of the story I wanted to bring to fruition in the novel. After a while, I even began having dreams about being in the different worlds in my novel.
However, after I moved back to my home city upon graduating from college, I could find everything except my notebook! All of that hard work and perfection was gone at once. I had now idea how it got misplaced. It was one of my most valuable possessions that I kept very close at all times. Even with that setback, I was still able to muster up most of the information in a new notebook. This time, I was also smart enough to make a digital copy on my computer.
How to Write
This year, 2017, was the first time that I sat down ready to actually write my novel. However, as soon as I started writing, I quickly realized that I needed help and tips on how to do it effectively. I wanted to learn how to write in a way that I could “show” the story instead of “tell” it. I just recently came across a website that has excellent writing advice. I found an extremely helpful blog by Ann Kellett that is useful for anyone who is interested in writing. Here is the first blog article I read on her site that helped me out a lot. I recommend that article for anyone who needs more guidance for your writing.
After all of my research, I’m finally ready to complete my novel. I’ve been dedicating an hour a day to writing every morning. I now realize that even if my writing is not perfect, it is always possible to go back and fix any imperfections.
